The Lower Macungie Township Historical Society will be celebrating its 25th anniversary by hosting an event at the Lower Macungie Township Community Center, 3450 Brookside Rd., Macungie, PA on October 12, 2014, from 1-4 p.m.
The celebration will include exhibits, demonstrations, children’s activities, food and more. Admission is free. Tom Hall Auctioneers will also be offering antique appraisals at the event. Tickets for appraising two items can be purchased on-line for $8 atwww.LMTHistory.org.
Sarajane Williams, president of the society, said, “Over the past 25 years the volunteers of LMTHS have made a difference in Lower Macungie in a number of ways. We have written about the history of our communities and schools in our history book and our newsletter, and we have offered an opportunity for those who grew up in the township long ago to tell present generations how it was back then. And we are very proud of the work we have done to restore the log house in the township park in Wescosville.”
Williams also noted that the society holds meetings free to the public to learn about all facets of local history, and has studied barns and conducted a very successful tour of township barns a couple of years ago. “This 25th Anniversary year marks the beginning of more decades of dedicated volunteers sharing their community spirit with fellow citizens,” Williams said.
