FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Bethlehem, November 6, 2015 – The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention – Greater Lehigh Valley Chapter will observe AFSP’s International Survivors of Suicide Day on Saturday, November 21.
This 17th annual event will be held in Conference Room B at Lehigh Valley Hospital – Muhlenberg in Bethlehem. Check-in and registration will begin at 10 a.m., followed by a video featuring a diverse group of survivors of suicide loss at 10:30 a.m., and then a closing program at 12 noon.
Each year, thousands of survivors of suicide loss gather at multiple locations around the world on the Saturday before Thanksgiving weekend for mutual support and practical guidance on coping with grief.
This year’s program will feature AFSP’s new documentary, “Family Journeys: Healing and Hope after a Suicide.” The documentary shows the ripple effects of a suicide in three families, how the members of each family are handling the loss of their loved one, healing and finding meaning again in their lives.
The event is free, refreshments will be served, and participants can bring a photo of their loved ones to place on a memorial table.
