Bethlehem, September 11, 2014 – Habitat for Humanity of the Lehigh Valley and Wells Fargo will blitz build one home in 10 days, from September 16 to 30. The home, located at 735 Aaron Street, is part of a 40-home development on South Mountain in Bethlehem.
Media Day, with special opportunities for photography, will be held on Tuesday, September 16, beginning at 10:30 a.m. The blitz build is an accelerated build schedule where dedicated Wells Fargo volunteers across the Lehigh Valley come together to build a house from foundation to roof in 10 days. “At Wells Fargo we have enjoyed a more than 20-year relationship with Habitat for Humanity and our local team members are excited to be working on this project in Bethlehem,” says Ryan Nicholl, vice president and Western Lehigh District Manager for Wells Fargo. Nicholl also serves on the Habitat for Humanity Lehigh Valley Board of Directors. “This is Wells Fargo’s fourth blitz build in the Lehigh Valley and it continues our tradition of helping area families find affordable housing—it’s the right thing to do for this community and you could not ask for a better partner than Habitat for Humanity.“
The home at 735 Aaron Street will be built for Shavone Magwood and her two children, Quincy and Sasha. Wells Fargo is the sponsor of this Aaron Street home.
Habitat for Humanity’s mission is to provide affordable housing for hardworking low-income families. Homeowners must put in “sweat equity” of 250 hours before getting Habitat’s no-interest mortgage because Habitat strives to give potential homeowners a “hand up” instead of a “hand out.”
Habitat Lehigh Valley has built more than 100 homes in Allentown, Bethlehem and Easton since 1989 for families in need of simple, decent, affordable housing. For more information, go to www.HabitatLV.org or call 610-776-7737.
