From The Publisher’s Heart by Andrea Hartley

Andrea Hartley photo taken by Jenny Johnson 09-17-201`1We just quietly celebrated our eighth year in business as Lehigh Valley Woman’s Journal. We began as a print publication in October, 2008 and transitioned to online in 2011. We have had the privilege of meeting so many wonderful people as a result of publishing this magazine. Change is inevitable and my personal life has changed a great deal since 2008 as well. All my children are now adults. I have been a parent since 1987 and have had minor children in my care since then, until 2016. Now I am moving on to a new stage in my life. Though I have worked and attended university throughout the years, now, in 2016 I am also working on my thesis for my MFA in creative writing. After years of being a journalist/reporter, I am now moving on to a new writing venue, which is creative non-fiction. My thesis is actually a book written about the true experiences of an army man serving in the Vietnam war. He worked in the engineering battalion early in the war and because of that he didn’t see a lot of direct combat, but what he did see and experience is worth hearing about. His experiences are shocking, tragic, funny, touching, educational and romantic. Yes, even romantic since he married a Vietnamese woman. When I am finished it will be a publishable book and available for all to read.

God bless,

Till next time…
