We learn about happiness from the time we are able to learn anything. Knowledge is power; but in all cases is it really? We begin life with ignorance to the world around us. Children appear to be so happy most of the time. Is this because of the lack of knowledge of the world around them? As we mature, as we age, we are educated with many topics, including happiness without even realizing it sometimes. Is your goal in life to be successful? Is your goal in life to be happy? Do the two go hand in hand? How do you know if you are really happy? Is happiness temporary, like most other things?
There are many questions and many answers when it comes to the question of happiness. How to “be” happy, how to “achieve” happiness. One common goal everyone hopes to achieve during his or her lifetime: happiness. This is a difficult situation because happiness isn’t just one state of being; it is a mentality. It is the ability to take what life has given you and to personalize it in a way that benefits you.
True happiness comes from surrounding yourself with people you love and love you in return. One of the best pieces of advice I can ever give to someone would be to surround yourself with positive, loving energy.
“Happiness is not determined by what’s happening around you, but rather what’s happening inside you. Most people depend on others to gain happiness, but the truth is, it always comes from within.”-Anonymous. As I previously stated, true happiness does have much to do with who you choose to surround yourself with, the company you keep says a lot about you whether your believe that or not, although, at the end of the day it is in your hands. “If you would like to be happy, than be”-Anonymous.
One of the most important challenges in life is learning to accept people for who they are. Once you realize that your expectations cannot change people, the better off you will be. The problem will arise when the expectations do not materialize. If you find that you are going out of your way much more than the people you surround yourself with, it may be time to make some adjustments.
The person you need to accept first is yourself. Learn to love yourself and after achieving that happiness will be easy to achieve.
